Schoolhouse Junior Counselor Program

Our Junior Counselor Program is designed for responsible, enthusiastic teens (age 15 or turning 15 the summer of 2026) who love working with kids and have an interest in cooking and crafting. This hands-on summer experience is perfect for teens who want to build real-world job skills in a fun, creative, and fast-paced environment.
JC’s play an important support role in our camps and classes. They assist instructors with food prep, help young chefs stay engaged and safe in the kitchen, support craft activities, and contribute to creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere for every camper. Junior Counselors are mentors, helpers, and role models.
While this is an unpaid position, the experience is incredibly valuable. JC’s receive job training, develop leadership and communication skills, learn kitchen safety and organization, and gain confidence working as part of a team. They also enjoy flexible scheduling, free cooking classes, and the opportunity to deepen their own culinary skills throughout the summer.
Many of our Junior Counselors transition into paid staff positions when they turn 16. For teens interested in food, education, or working with children, this program is an outstanding stepping stone.
If you’re dependable, energetic, and ready to learn, we’d love to have you join our summer team!
Please submit your application below.
*Note to Parents:
We ask that all communication about the Junior Counselor application come directly from the teen applicant. Please encourage your child to complete the application independently and to email us themselves with any questions.
This is the first step in their job training experience! We hire for confidence, responsibility, and independence, and strong communication skills are essential. We are parents, too, and will be kind, supportive and encouraging! - Cheryl, Sarah + Stephanie
